I don't think NASA is lying, but since the article says they are picking this up in the IR spectrum, that tells me that the photos are enhanced, as we can't see IR.

Nope, it was observed last year and there are significant studies devoted to this especially the collaboration between this and what information the Juno spacecraft is sending back.

The giant red spot is amazing. A hurricane twice the size of earth that has been active for hundreds of years I think.

Yeah I always thought it was some sort of permanent thing in the atmosphere. Pretty cool that it's just some sort of gas storm still going.
