I made a good bit on stock trades from the money board. $AUPH was a big winner.

With the tips and tricks from the OT, I became Pool Board President.

Too many times to count.

Hell, just now I learned that brakes aren't important on a car and that I should go as cheap as I can. Looks like I'll save at least a couple hundred on my next brake job.

I've hit on a couple of the MB gems, but I've sunk just as much in MB duds

SLI being the current MB girlfriend I can't get rid of

I've saved money on several "deals" (primo bbq pit, tiller, paint sprayer) that were posted.

Another thing would be advice, at least one person here has delt with a problem you're having. Brakes on your truck, nosey neighbor, etc...

I also check the OT first when it comes to news. At minimum it's a fantastic headline aggregator of news (both regular and sports). If something is going on, someone has posted it, and it at least alerts you and you can do further research if you're interested.

A lot of good help on house-related repair and update projects. I'm somewhat handy but I'm not a wizard, so input from others is really appreciated.

Someone years ago mentioned a 120 mile kayak race on bayou teche. I had never heard of such an event. Signed up and finished it. Then did world longest nonstop kayak race of 340 miles.

Those got me into planning for and doing endurance events. Someone on outdoor board mentioned a 175 mile self supported ultra marathon across desert in Grand Canyon area. I did that and really enjoyed it.

I’ve now completed self supported ultra marathons in volcanic desert in Iceland and the driest place on the planet, the Atacama desert in Peru. I’m supposed to be in the Wadi Rum desert in the country of Jordan right now. Race had to be canceled since it’s in Middle East and borders Israel.

I’m headed to the Namibia desert in Africa as a replacement race in April and have a signed up for 155 mile race in Antarctica next November.

I now have friends from all over the world and have traveled to some truly unique places. All of that from a random post about a kayak race on the OT lounge.

The offset to that is that TD also brings me all the bad news of the world.
