Sure it makes sense
The next pricing doesn't include the cost of a phone if you already have one.
I maybe could have worded it better but I wasn't wrong
No, you are wrong. ATT Next is only if you are buying a new phone. Look it up. If you already have a phone, you can't use NEXT.
From AT&T's site:
quote:
AT&T Next offers well-qualified buyers the choice to purchase your smartphone for $0 down, dividing the regular price of your smartphone into low monthly installment payments. Another option allows qualified buyers the choice to pay a down payment up front, dividing the remaining cost into monthly installment payments. With AT&T Next, tax is due at the time of sale, but there are no finance fees required.
For well-qualified buyers, the options are:
AT&T Next 24: Divided into 30 installments; can trade in and upgrade after 24 installments.
AT&T Next 18: Divided into 24 installments; can trade in and upgrade after 18 installments.
AT&T Next 12: Divided into 20 installments; can trade in and upgrade after 12 installments.
For qualified and well-qualified buyers, an option is:
AT&T Next with down payment: 30% of device cost down, divided into 28 installments; can trade in and upgrade after 12 installments4

Just how exactly am I wrong? Please enlighten me. The only thing I didn't mention was paying the taxes up front for the NEXT plan. I've discussed this with and verified it with AT&T more than once.

I'm on next and get a 25 dollar credit a month that pretty much cancels out the installment.
That goes away when the phone is paid off

You're wrong in saying that the subsidized plans were better. You clearly don't understand the pricing structure if you think that. In the proper board there have been several threads that break it down by the numbers. Find one and educate yourself.

Wait for black friday....I'm going to get a new Samsung Galaxy 6 or Note 5, Target will have them for 1 penny if you sign two year agreement.

So ATT is giving me an interest free loan to buy a phone and I am not under any contract?

That $25 cancels out your discount (if you were smart enough to have one).
LNCHBOX, maybe I'm getting screwed over because I received no extra discount when switching from a contract plan to a no-contract plan.
If someone is getting this discount, what does it look like on your bill? I get mobile share value savings and an employer discount right now. Should I be getting another?

Haven't been aware of the new pricing schemes they came out with.
Yeah I got my new phone earlier this year, right after they changed it all. I actually had an old upgrade I could have used, but it would have been more expensive had I gone that route. New route is cheaper on the data/usage, but makes users pay for the phone completely, though you can spread it out with no interest, which I didnt mind. 6 of one, half dozen the other. We all end up paying.

get the previous version for $49 or $99.

Used, but mint condition iphone 6 is available on ebay for about $420. Would be stupid to pay $650 through ATT.

I just spoke with AT&T. And please point out how the old "2 year contract plan" was worse than what is offered now. I am not eligible for any additional discount by bringing my own phone. The only benefit I get is that I don't have a contract and my bill stays the same. I still have to buy a phone outright. The old 2 year contract included a subsidized phone, which the cost was worked into the bill, however, AT&T does not remove that extra "subsidized cost" from plans after switching to a no-contract plan. So to recap, before, I'd pay $0-200 for a new subsidized phone and my plan cost would remain the same from the previous contract. Now I have to buy a phone outright and my plan cost remains the same. Explain how that is a better deal for me, please?
