strategic procurement planning and acquisition project management.
Try a MNC timber company or a REIT/TIMO. There are about 3 of each in Louisiana

Unless what you do is just industry-specific

Well, to be fair, I understand what you're saying. I just don't think my skill set is valued in Louisiana. It isn't typical purchasing hard materials. I do more strategic procurement planning and acquisition project management.

Ah. Gotcha.

You need to try to get your PMP if you can.

Your skill set isn't just procurement...you've got to get that out of your head first...

Honestly a state job on a resume tells me you're lazy

So what does having a state job, a job on the side, and getting a CPA while getting tangible rewards at the state tell you?

I work 80 hour weeks between all my commitments. Y'all can go frick yourself when you're talking about lazy.

Like I said, I'd take reduced money if I could just get on with a good company.

Dude I'm in the same boat except I love my actual job. But the pay sucks compared to my qualifications.

But like I said, I put up with it because maybe I could get a job making $15k more and I would literally hate getting up and coming to work everyday.

But you are probably in a different line of work than me with the state and chained to a desk. That's part of the reason I love my job is the freedom to be in and out of the office.

But you are right. The incentive to do a good job isn't there for most because you don't get as big of a merit raise unlike the private sector.

I've never gotten a raise or promotion. You literally have to change jobs in the state to get anything.

Everywhere I go, they claim they're broke. It's not worth working for the state unless you're entry level or just so lazy to pursue anything else.

You will not be rewarded. And they wonder why they can't keep any talent.

Well my annual raise isn't much, but it's better than nothing.
The guy who had my job before me was a contractual employee who was retired from the Fed Gov't. He made $10k more than I did and worked 2 days a week.

Well when they gave me the job, they told me that he didnt get any benefits, retirement, sick days, used his own transportation etc

I told them if I only worked 2 days a week I'd do all that too. I wouldn't need sick/vacay days.

I do well. I make about +30-40K a year with it working part time, which kind of gives me freedom to change primary positions.

Just nothing to change to at the moment.

Not reading 5 pages.

Has anyone said state workers are perceived as lazy?

The OP is qualified to work all over the country. Look for jobs on LinkedIn. There is subcontracts stuff eery where.
