but thats the thing, I'm not cool with it. And if I was, what would be the point of marriage? You are trying to put a square peg in the proverbial round hole (pardon the pun).

I'm saying that I wasn't raised to be ok with it, but someone else might be. That was my point.

Monogamy might not be the "normal" for someone else.

well we are seeing more and more couples not get married. Marriage is slowly not becoming something that is expected for a woman to do.

my thing is dont get married if you want to step out on your partner. just get a civil union

no offense, but what a load of immature rationalizing shite.

None taken. I am just saying others might not be the same as you. I think people do shitty things to people they love allllll the fricking time and regret it for the rest of their life.

more of the same

This was a different thought than my first. If you grew up in a household with several moms and dads, that would be normal to you. If you grew with swinger parents and they taught you "swinging is the right way to be" you'd be pretty cool with it.

I think it's asurob1 who is interesting in these threads -- he has an open marriage and basically calls guys out for being insecure pussies if they can't deal with their wife swinging.

Although in fairness there are a lot more reasons other than "variety" that are contributing to this. Although I'm finding this emphasis on "variety" being placed by the media to be interesting to say the least.

I am married and it wasn't done in a church or by someone ordained by any church.

Would you not call me married?

There's a whole other level of legal rights and protections associated with marriage. And hardly any of it has anything to do with sexual relationships.

He's a liberal idiot who likes watching his wife take a pounding from other guys...not exactly a role model or someone you want to take tips from.

Sounds like he'd be interesting in this thread though.

but don't you think those who have step parents innately know they are supposed to faithful to one person only when married? As for swingers, what would be the point of marriage if you wanted to be a swinger?

Marriage isn't just about sex. Its about other stuff too such as having someone to share your life with on a daily basis. The sex thing for swingers is just to satisfy innate urges in a controlled atmosphere.

I'm not sure how "innate" monogamy truly is. I think everyone is different in this sense.

ETA:

Nature v. Nurture comes into play IMO. I definitely want to frick Adrianna Lima. No doubt about that. But I know I can't or won't because I am married. But damn do I want to

(and obviously couldn't because shes Adrianna Lima but this is a hypothetical)
