I'm 32 and my parents still buy me a birthday gift every year.

My dad usually buys me some type of power tool. Last year he bought me a table saw.

Now that my siblings and I are all older, our Dad takes us out for dinner for our birthdays, usually somewhere pretty nice.

And yes I recognize my privilege of having the same Dad as my siblings and him actually being around.

12, 13, 14. Something like that. Don't really remember. I did get one gift one year after that when I was 21. It was a laptop for school that I had been saving up to buy that my father decided to just go ahead and buy a cheap one for me. That was unusual and a nice, unexpected surprise.

A birthday is just another day in my family.
A "Happy Birthday" with a "Would do you want to cook for dinner?" is about all I ever got.

About how we operate. I'm grateful that some one bothers to think about me, and I enjoy a meal with my family. Don't really want anything more. The idea of presents seems a little childish to me.

Nailed it
We also have a weird tradition that if it's your birthday, the rest of the family will surprise attack you with silly string at some point in the day
