How often do you get a jury duty notice?

I have never gotten one before. Sooner or later my luck is going to run out. What happens if you don't show up? What is the easiest way to get out of it?

Got Federal District 3 times in 5 years. Canceled every time.

Parish once. Excused due to not living in parish for past 2 years.

I've gotten one in 16 years of being able to vote.

3 times in 10 years (parish) after college. Just got the questionnaire again so a 4th is coming up soon.

ETA: I actually find it interesting and never try to get out of it. I don't lose pay by doing it, though.

Just do your service. You wouldn't want everyone trying their hardest to get out of it if you were on trial.

Scruffy got one last year, but he was excused for being too handsome and distracting.

Wat. Good supply of suckers/eager beavers I' sure, why drag me into it. Heck someone may actually need the work. Why should I stand in their way?

Same here, it was actually two months ago. Civil court, showed up for the first day instructions and was never called in. Got a fat $11 check in the mail the other day.

I'm an attorney so I'll never have to serve. But it's sad seeing all the people trying their hardest to get out of jury duty. Put yourself in the accused's shoes.

Well then you are both biased and hypocritical for lecturing me on jury duty.

I think they should pull from the people on unemployment and welfare. I am a small business owner that makes a living billing for my time. I have no "vacation" days or "paid time off". Am I just supposed to give up 500-800 bucks a day so I can go make 11 bucks. Plus I am the sole breadwinner. frick jury duty.

Everyone's situation is different. You have a good excuse. OP just doesn't want to do it in general.

I enjoy lawyer jokes, but that one is just dumb. You googled "lawyer jokes" and that's the funniest one you saw?

Do you want your life in the hands of those that obviously have made such great life choices themselves?

3 times in the last 10 years or so... two 19th JDC and one Federal.

I've always gone, have never been selected and typically done in 2-3 days.

I do get paid still, though, so I guess if I was hourly or owned my own business I would try to get out of it.
