Anybody? How much could this woman make working the talk-show circuit? I say about $500k if she got an agent.

How much would Fox pay her for an exclusive interview where she slams the stupidity going on up there?

I was rather proud of this lady stepping in belting her punk son or whoever it is for being a punk. Hats off to her.

If promoted properly, and she is of a mind-set that declares she's had enough of this bullshite, it may have the potential to spark a cultural shift - at least to some degree. Of course, she needs to come across as a rational person and not consumed by all the hysteria.

If she's such a great parent and disciplinarian, why was her kid out there in the first place?

I'd rather see the mom that slapped her son for merely tweeting that he'd be out there.

i'm going to play devil's advocate here:

while i do think her son deserves an arse beating, I do find it reflective that the way she handled the situation was with violence... again, I'm not saying her son didn't deserve to be humiliated or have a good arse beating, but at the same time, it's sort of reflective of the way that particular culture is. Just smack him in the head and yell rather that try and explain to him what he is doing is wrong (again, i know at that point it was too late to be rational with him, but is this how she has always handled her son when he has been acting a fool?)

there was a "march" when I was in junior high school, supposed to join up with the big kids, my Dad forewarned me of the consequences, although there was a lot of peer pressure at school that day, I stayed at school

Wrong. The decisiveness in which she acted is the important point. No slicing & dicing; no PC ruminations. Just do the right thing in the heat of the moment. She 's obviously comfortable in her convictions. She probably thought this through a million times before, IMHO.

At sixteen, did you ever disobey your parent(s)?

She said she saw someone through something at the cops and then she saw her son in the crowd and made eye contact with him. She said she dragged him out of the crowd and got on his arse because she didn't want him to potentially become the next Freddie Gray.

She's doing SOMETHING to discipline her child. She admits that he's 16 and she can't control everything that he does. She's trying to control her child, which is more than some do.

I agree - and thanks for making my point. The swiftness in which she acted - and the corresponding outward signs - is the important thing.

like i said, at the time there was nothing else she could do. it's not like she could sit him down and talk to him rationally at that point. he was dressed like a fricking ISIS member and marching through the street.

I'm talking about through the guy's entire life. Is this the way she has handled her son? as another poster said, if this mom is such a great parent, why is this person acting like a thug in the first place (again, I realize a parent can only do so much).

to be honest, i really don't care about any of this... I'm bored, studying, and just thought i would chime in with my initial thoughts when i saw the video. i've literally not watched more that 10 minutes of news dealing with the situation in Baltimore
