Honest question, how many of you stay married solely 'for the kids'? If it weren't for kids would either you or the SO most likely step out and not let the door hit them on the way out?

Your mom and I are still together because of you. I don't know why though. You're such a fricking loser.

I don't think it's as much has kids holding couples together as womens mid life crisis kicking in(empty nest syndrome)

I'm not sure I know of any marriage that would definitely be done if not for kids

But I certainly know of some where the kids have replaced the marriage and the parents are going to have a lot of work to do to fill that void when the kids move off

There are times I've stayed for my kids...

And times I've stayed for my wife...

Love will turn you around

I know this is off subject, but it irritates the crap out of me when parents split up then one uses the kids as a bargaining tool to get things from the other parent in exchange for visitation. Or when one parent, usually the mom, acts like it's only her kid and doesn't want the dad to see them at all.

Not sure which is more, your scenario, or having a kid because they think it will make the marriage better

Hey, don't judge me. My marriage has improved a lot since I estimated the child support payments.

Probably a lot considering the number of people who told me that the only reason they got married was to have kids, and that they don't even see a reason to be in a marriage if not for the kids.

If I had better kids, I'd probably still be married. I'll never forgive them for that.

I stated this.

Although this is a misinterpretation of that statement.

I think a lot more marriages begin because of pregnancy than ones that continue because of kids.

Having a kid is the absolute worst reason to get married.

I can think of three worse reasons, easily.

1. Needed accomplice who couldn't testify against you for arson.

2. Wanted to get close to family to have sex with Uncle.

3. Have kids
