How long will you wait on a Dr. before leaving?

I walked out on one once after waiting in the exam room for an hour.
The crazy part is that I was the only person waiting when I was called back...and the waiting room was empty when I left.

Meaning at an appointment, walk-in or legit ER? I’ve never waited more than 10-15 minutes at all three

It depends - if they tell me why the doctor is delayed - then I might wait

Other than that 30 minutes

One time I was going in for a prenatal check up and I was called to the back - the dr walked in and he was called to the hospital for a delivery - I waited an hour, which wasn’t too bad

Depends on the reason I am at the doctor.

I waited an hour and forty-five minutes once. Never saw that doctor again. Like you, there weren’t even any other patients. She just took that long to show up.

I’ve been called to the back, waited about 45 minutes and just walked out. This has happened twice. I don’t go back again to the same Dr. That is just me though.

Just because you’re a Dr doesn’t give you the excuse for bad customer service. My wife, who works in the medical field, calls this idea “radical”.

You will wait until I get there and there is nothing you can do about it. Because I am the best in my field.

Kidding, the longest I have ever been behind was 25 mins. I always apologize profusely when it has been more than 10 mins that I have kept someone waiting. I find that if you honor the patients time, they will honors yours. It works out well.

I have walked out of the exam room twice after waiting 45 minutes and noone even stuck their head in to check on me. I am an RN and have worked in a clinic, that is just poor service and should not have to be tolerated. Doctors can be busy and situations arise on occasion, but at a minimum the staff should keep you up on expectations. I don't do well with poor service, especially in Healthcare when customers already don't feel well.

Those of you that walked out, in curious, what did you do then?

Because if I'm a a doctor there is a reason I'm there. So if I walk out, I still have to see a Dr and wait again

Wait until Universal Health Care is a reality. No incentive to work hard and the hell with the patient.

I’m curious too. It’s not like shitty food service where you can just go somewhere else really quick or pick up fast food.

You have to find another dr in that specialty, make a new appointment, pick a weekday, make sure they’re in your insurance network, probably take off work... assuming you’re not just going to an urgent care for a cold.

Find a different doctor or reschedule. I fully understand shite happens and people run late. I accept that. But I’m not waiting because the dr is running late. I just reschedule or go elsewhere.

And I ain’t paying for an appointment cause I walked out. He wants to charge a fee, provide a service.

I always get my appointment sheduled for the last appointment of the day, usually around 4:30 p.m. I never have to worry about waiting too long or letting the doctor waste half my day.
