Why do I get the feeling if TigerNlc were to get an appendectomy, he would be out 10 days?

Bruh, there's more to life than just work. Everyone thinks the world will end if they don't meet some artificial deadline.

We are killing ourselves working all the time. And for what? For whom???

Had mine rupture and I was out 2 weeks. Was back at work for 2 days when I woke up and knew something was wrong (my intestines kinked). Had to have a second surgery that put me out for nearly 5 months.

My employers were amazing throughout the whole process.

Friend at work had it done while we were away at a a 3 month training. Remember it being a big deal since we were hours away from home in bumf**k Mississippi. There was no way he was getting back to work within the first 3 days. I think all in all he was out 5 days. We did some physical work in addition to office work during that training and he had to sit out of the physical stuff even longer. And this was a guy who religiously went to the gym. It killed him to not work out. But it really screws with your abs, so lifting or anything strenuous takes a while.

Talking about personnel medical issues on a public forum is a FANTASTIC idea

If the parties find out about this thread.....

How long would one typically be out?

Gonna be up to his doctor and whether or not his appendix had ruptured.

Think of it this way.....if you ever had to have emergency surgery (most people don't usually just plan on getting their appendix removed, it is usually an urgent situation requiring surgery asap)....wouldn't you want to be able to take off the time you needed so your body could properly heal before stressing over work?

Are you fricking high. I had this procedure done. In hospital for a day and a half and wasn't allowed to drive for a week. Give the poor dude a couple weeks to get better slave driver.

Within a hour after surgery. Tell them to suck it up and get their arse to work, and tell him to bring his appendix in a jar so everyone can see it.

Oh the humanity. You sound like a dick. Pitch in and take up the slack yourself.

I asked them not to put me under so I could have phone conferences and respond to e-mails during the operation. Took a client for a nice steak dinner and a strip club that night and flew to London the next morning.

Pussies.

I could see the OP now

"Yeah I know both your parents just suddenly died and all and their funeral is tomorrow...but the funeral can't take all day. You should still be able to come into work after the funeral right?"

"So the doctor said you need chemo? That only takes what an hour right? So you will be in at 10 tomorrow?"

It's crazy nurse. It's a procedure that requires general anesthesia. You don't just bounce back from that the next day. I was back at work in two weeks but had a 20 pound lifting restriction for two months.

My wife had a lap appy and was back to work in 3 days. She was a surgery resident at the time so there was little concern for her well being by the attendings.

Mine fully ruptured. 3 hour surgery. 6 days in the big house, then a week off.
