re: How easy is it to win in traffic court?

I recently got a speeding ticket in a small town in the middle of nowhere, I feel stupid for falling for the speed trap. I called the courthouse and they told me if I show up for my court date and just act nice that I would get it reduced to a moving violation and no points against my record.

What's the protocol here? I'm fine with paying a reduced fine if it's no longer a speeding violation and no points. Just show up, dress respectably and act nice? I'm not really trying to fight it but I don't want the points against my record since it was in my company car.
