The old folks at work have been talking about them for the last few days. One of them printed the below out and stuck it on his bulletin board. I'm not sure what happened this week to get them this riled up about it.

I'm fine with it if it gets me out of the store quicker.

They're great except for the people that sit at them for a year and a half scanning two buggies full of groceries.

I use them if I don't have a lot of stuff to scan.

I thought this was going to be about suicide.

Anyway, the only problem with self checkouts are slow people. Six self checkouts are still faster than one cashier.

I use it 99% of the time.

The only time I have an issue is when it's used by people who take a long time .

As long as they are working correctly, I like them. What I don't like is the lady with a full basket trying to figure out how to do self checkout and keep her stuff organized in the basket. Should be a 10 item or less deal.

Self-Checkout Renaissance is a really fun live band. Their album “The Sun Never Sets on the Wal-Mart Empire” is bizarre but enjoyable.

Tell the old folk to speed their checking up and stop trying to make annoying small talk and I’ll start using them again.

I prefer self checkout over dealing with a walmart employee

I fricking love them. So much quicker than waiting for the old fricks to write a check or try and figure out how to use the credit card machine. I'd actually pay more to shop at a grocery store that was only for people less than 50 years old.

The only thing I dislike is alcohol. Too many times the one associate assigned to help with that is busy helping someone that doesn't understand how to use the system. I have pretty much stopped buying alcohol from grocery stores and Walmart because of it.

at the two stores i regularly frequent they only have like 2 lanes open (if you're lucky) so not really much of a choice most of the time. Kroger by me has even put in a self check out specifically for full carts

I use it to get done quicker but I understand why some people, mostly elderly do not like them.

I am unsympathetic to retailers who have store loss when I have to check myself out.

They’re very difficult to use while I’m detoxing.

Too often they don't work properly or they don't take cash.

The less I have to deal with incompetence, the better. I don't need someone to make an item go beep.
