to be fair though, Lauer seems like he works his arse off.

When they're in NY they all have to wake up at like 3 a.m. You'd have to give me 7 figures to do that every day. He probably goes to eat dinner at around 5 to get to sleep for 7 pm. Sounds miserable.

Yep, he's way aways from his $15MM house in the Hamptons right now. It has to be tough.

Supply and Demand.

He is obviously a valuable commodity, hence his $25M salary for Today Show.

His network wants him to do another show as well.

They should have to pay him more to do it.

If you make $70k/year as an engineer and your company tells you now you have to do sales as well, guess what you are going to need more money to do it.
AMEN. It is amazing the jealousy and the hypocrisy this board has. Everyone claims to be these capitalist conservative but they are nothing more than typical lazy liberals who complain when others are more succesful

Exactly. I always ask myself how they do so much and wake up all cheery. Then have to fly around the country that same day for interviews, promos and all other types of stuff.

You'd have to pay me a lot for that kind of work.

I don't think most on here understand that life.

He is a bleeding heart liberal that wants Lauer's wealth distributed to him. But I guarantee you he claims he is conservative

come on, obviously half the posters in this thread deserve that position and salary. Obviously capitalism doesn't work, and Lauer shouldn't demand every penny they are willing to give for his services.

I understand it is kind of a unique situation and he is temporarily "filling in."

well I also bet he has about a 10,000 page contract that covers this sort of thing, and if it does he needs to be paid for it.

ETA: I couldn't care less about Lauer's political views in this regard. The man has worked to get to a position in life where he is in demand. He deserves what they are willing to give.

Granted it does not go into detail on the amount of early morning location reporting, but the rest of that doesn't sound all that difficult.

Do Today live from 4 pm - 6 pm. He eats and sleeps after that, returning to the prime time chair at 11, so even with an hour for wardrobe and makeup he still has roughly 4 hours to eat/nap.

Four hours of Primetime would go 11pm - 3am. That gives him another 13 hours to sleep and do the location shooting. Doesn't seem all that difficult.

Awesome, then go do it. This is America nobody is stopping you. Stop complaining and being bitter of others success and make some success of your own

You do realize these guys work off air right? They have to prepare for the on air time. They don't just sit in the chair and go, "so what's going down today?"

You're not thinking about the fact he already worked a full day for the today show and prepped for it. Also not including his prep for the olympic show. I'm betting he's getting 4-5 hours of sleep and no free time. He's probably waking up, working, then sleeping. That's it. You would be miserable to, and grumpy, and more likely to vent.

It's like that line from Get Him to the Greek,

"Yeah, dad, because I became a rock star as the result of winning a lottery"

or something along those lines
