and Weimaraner.

I have one and some things he's was very easy to train.. By 3 months old I had him ringing a bell to go outside to go the bathroom.

As the other posted stated dumb as a bag of hammers is simply not true.. I think extremely strong willed is more fitting..

My dog is smart, playful and very protective... He has his moments since he still in the puppy stage granted he's a 65lb puppy.. and currently at the vets office b/c he decided something form our guest bathroom looked good enough to eat.. Costing me a grand for surgery.. damn dog

They are great breed for a family with older kids..

Also they are extremely active dogs, so if being outdoors is your thing they'll love it.

If your not a very active person..avoid this breed ...They will become boarded and very destructive

I know they shed a lot

Yeah, but there's little you can do about it. If you're fastidious and do a good brush down a couple of times per day, you can cut it maybe 20% or so. But that's the price of admission for a GSD.

If you feed your GSD good quality food, and bath him once a week or two, you can cut down on the daily shedding by at least 50%. My GSD sheds so very little for the four to five days following a bath.

That being said, bathing a GSD is quite a task. Their fur is as waterproof as you will come across.

yep same here. thankfully he got over it, but for the first few months it was garunteed I was coming home to a crate full of shite. Couldn't leave him outside either b/c he was too small and it was cold.

wife left the crate unlocked once... came home after a date night to anything she could reach chewed up in her bed and all of my fruit roll ups eaten
