Houston Roadways - WTF?

So I am going to be headed to Houston for business in the coming weeks. I started looking at the roadways and the info I could get regarding said roads.
I understand 8 has tolls - how much?
How many sections are EZ pass only?
If I am in the city and headed North, are 45 and 59 HOV only, all the time?
I have been to Houston before, and got turned around a few times. With that said what happens if I enter a HOV road without another passenger? Do they have cameras that document occupancy?
What's the toll on Hardy Toll?
I am just trying to get some of this info down, so I know what to expect. I can't seem to find a list of rules.

No 45 & 59 are not HOV only.
Toll on 8 is 1.75 I believe.
If you have to head north, I'd stick to 59 during peak traffic times.

Pretty sure it varies by toll plaza. No more than $2/toll, though.

Pretty sure beltway 99 is the only one that's ez pass only.
ETA: beltway 8 between 59 and 10 on the northeast side as well

No, they have designated HOV lanes that do not require toll payments. You can use these lanes with an EZ pass. Pricing is dynamic based on demand.

No. They have cops that will be out.

I had found that before - I don't or Hardy...and I don't understand all the ramps, etc... confusing.

Yea I forgot about that. I run them each time I'm there be I'm in a rental car and they just direct bill my account.

Tolls are such crap. Never noticed much a difference between roads with them and those without.

Yes I did exactly that. So it avoided the tolls on 8 and Hardy, but put me on 45 and 59.... in the map it says HOV lane for both. Hence some of my questions.

Ah, I didn't see that 45 and 59 were toll roads.
They seem to have started some pilot program in regards to HOV on 45 and 59, but not sure what has changed - if it is only HOV or just the times that the roadway is HOV.
Thanks for the info. I was trying to make my trip as quick as possible and not have to drive around with a wad of $1s... seems like that might have to be the case.

Houston has three loops
BR has an I-10 that goes down to one lane
