HOA cannot do anything related to streets unless it is a gated community with private streets. Otherwise HOA cannot approve of golf carts(or anthing for that matter) if they are not legal with Fed, state and/or local government.

I totally agree with your point that an association cannot allow something that would otherwise be unlawful. In the case of my neighborhood, there is language restricting the use of these vehicles on neighborhood streets as well as parking on the street both of which are not contrary to local laws and ordnances.

I see what you are saying. We have no parking on streets but that is also against local law (but never enforced apparently)

But, an HOA cannot allow something that is illegal by Fed, State and Local law and typically cannot control any property that isn't theirs like streets.

So, if people are saying an HOA allowed golf carts (meaning wrote into by-laws in restrictions that they are ok) but it is illegal then I don't believe them.

100% in agreement with you. Despite having this in our restrictions, the Board is basically powerless when it comes to enforcing these rules. I guess that was the point I was trying to make. I chimed in because this is a problem we have in my neighborhood every summer.

An update on this situation. The child is awake and alert. No signs of internal bleeding. We truly had a miracle in Quail Creek yesterday. Hug your kids tonight and continue the prayers. They’ve been working.

Golf carts and 4 wheelers are allowed in my subdivision and a couple of the boys drive 4 wheelers like bats out of hell to impress the girls. Hoping there is never a thread like this for us but I feel like it's going to happen eventually unfortunately.
you must live in my neighborhood. It is a matter of time before somebody on a dirt bike or 4 wheeler gets run over in our neighborhood. The other day they had a girl that was so small she couldn’t reach the pedals of a jacked up golf cart so she had to lean up against the seat to reach pedals. Oh did I say she was by herself driving down the middle of road

A 5 year old should never be allowed outside alone and certainly not allowed on a bike or scooter without supervision.

Some neighbors knocked on our door today to ask my kids to play. They wanted to play in the street. I told them they couldn’t and they got mad. I just showed them this video 25 times.

When I was a kid we played football in the street. But today nobody can drive without their phone in one hand. It’s not the same world. People are too distracted.

The first street in my neighborhood is littered with kids on scooters and electric bikes that go from the driveway to street constantly. The parents even put up those green signs saying slow down with a flag on it in the street so you can’t even drive by their house in the right lane. I mentioned maybe they should teach their kids to stay out of the road instead of expect drivers to always swerve to the left when passing their house. The dad got all pissy so I just walked away. People are entitled assholes now.

There is no time to slow down with kids which is why I drive on the opposite side anytime I see them because they love to dart out at the last minute. I blame the parents more than the drivers.

She had time. She had time to see him coming down the drive. She also had time to stop way before she finallly did.

When they subpoena her phone they will see

I don’t know. It happened so fast. Tragic event regardless. If kid was 5, no way he should be unsupervised in front yard with a bike. But I also understand how quick 5 year olds can be if you take an eye off them for a second. So who knows what all transpired. Glad to hear the kid survived and hope he fully recovers. Prayers to both families of driver and kid. So sad.

A similar situation almost happened to me a few years ago, but I was able to slam on the brakes in time before hitting the kid.
If he was a second or two later,it would have been the same as this accident.
Why I didn't go back and tell his mindless parents I don't know why.

The only time my 9 yo daughter plays outside is when I'm outside with her. And she never goes anywhere w/o her cellphone watch.

There are too many perverts and other assorted freaks to let her outside by herself.
