From the little info we have, he was actually in the right.

I think we would agree on that. I was just saying that juries do crazy shite. Here in MS one time a man was convicted of manslaughter after shooting a man that broke into his girlfriends house. The man he shot was actually the girls "other" boyfriend. The other boyfriend came to the house beating on the door and said I'm going to come back and kill you. The man came back, broke in the house and pulled a gun. The convicted man pulled his own and shot the guy dead. Clear cut self-defense if you ask me considering he was lawfully in the house. The jury convicted however. Craziest result I've ever seen.

The Aaron case is bad example.

Jamison was shot in his car down the street away from Aaron's house.

Aaron saw Jamison pull out of his Aaron's driveway and drive down the street. Aaron followed him, confronted him and then shot him 7 times when he claimed he thought Jamison was reaching for a weapon.

This one incident sums up the next election perfectly. If you want more citizens like the homeowner vote Trump, if you want more citizens like the robber vote Bernie or Hillary.

That's pretty fricked up.

Can I throw out the "What race was each party, including the jurors, involved?"

It is Mississippi after all...

That could be an all white jury condemning a black man or vice versa, but it just sounds too far fetched for there not to be more to that story as well.

For instance, what if it was actually the victim's house, but the girlfriend brought the shooter there?

That would kick things up a notch.

Let's say it's a perfect scenario. No weird side notes, no racists jury, and no BS.

Clear cut that he shot the victim, legally, but the jury convicted him.

That outlier of a case doesn't change my opinion on how I think the lady in OP handled it. I think she did the right thing, btw.

In most cases, you have a better defense if the perp is no longer breathing.

Dead men tell no tales.

And that's exactly the info I needed to finish that puzzle. Thanks!

Yeah, chasing the criminal down the street changes that situation entirely. I knew it couldn't have been as clear cut as written in the article I posted.

Although, I fully support concealed carry and your right to protect yourself and property....if you can take the high road....take the high road.

If the bad guy is leaving, let him go. Is it really worth the time and money you will lose to protect property that can be replaced.

If your life or someones life is endangered....by all means take the action needed to protect yourself or somebody but don't gamble over a flatscreen.

You break into my house while me or my family is there....you are gonna get smoked......you make it out before I get you....then well done sir...thats what why we have police and detectives to pick you up later.

I'm not saying I would shoot someone over a TV.

I'm saying if we're on my property, the bullet(s) hit(s) him in the front, and there are no witnesses or cameras, I'm in the clear every time.

Even if he didn't rush me, who's to say he didn't?

To all the posters that have said they would shoot the burglar without hesitation, how many of you have shot and killed someone? Military excluded.

There is no doubt that I would shoot an intruder that was in my house. Unlike many bleeding hearts, I place zero value on a criminals life. They give up all rights to life when they break in a home.

Yes, you can. In Louisiana at least.

I think the shooter being a woman will help her case, especially if it went to a trial. A jury will have more sympathy. But it really matters where/how she shot him. If he never left or climbed back in, I think she is clear. But if he was going out the window and she shot him in the back, she's in trouble. I'll be interested to hear all the details if/when they ever come out..
