A homemade device containing what is believed to be chlorine gas was discovered Wednesday on a Louisiana military base, according to witnesses on the scene.
The device was discovered in a car in the post library parking lot on Fort Polk, home to one of the Army’s combat training centers. Eyewitnesses said the incident began after 12:00 pm, when officials cordoned off the parking lot and prevented people from leaving the area.
Witnesses said representatives from the FBI, the military police, CID, and other law enforcement agencies were on the scene, including some in hazardous materials protective suits.

Probably just some pool supplies some guy picked up today to get his pool summer ready when he got home.

I heard they know who it belonged to and went to his place and there was more material there.
Don't know if that's true or not but that's what I heard

Ft. Polk needs all the chlorine it can get. Same goes for Leesville.

No one else is reporting this. I believe its fake.
Why is one fireman in t shirt and no respirator but the other pic guys in haz mats? The pics are in the broad daylight. If this was legit EVERY news source wouldve run with this.
Nice attempt whoever shopped it.

Looks like the Army is using wardrobe leftovers from The Arrival.

They should have set it off. The worst place I've ever been including middle eastern countries.

Possibly one of Leesville's finest still mad about the government taking their family's land back in the 1930s.

Was this meant to kill people?

Humans can smell chlorine gas at ranges from 0.1–0.3 ppm. According to a review from 2010: "At 1–3 ppm, there is mild mucus membrane irritation that can usually be tolerated for about an hour. At 5–15 ppm, there is moderate mucus membrane irritation. At 30 ppm and beyond, there is immediate chest pain, shortness of breath, and cough. At approximately 40–60 ppm, a toxic pneumonitis and/or acute pulmonary edema can develop.... Concentrations of about 400 ppm and beyond are generally fatal over 30 minutes, and at 1,000 ppm and above, fatality ensues within only a few minutes."

2nd link clearly links the 2/3 incidents - explosion/fire in woods, discovery at apartments and chlorine found in vehicle on base.

I don't know, I think chlorine can really frick a person up. I know I nearly passed out just going into a closet of pool chemicals once.

I mean... Not like it was widely used in wwi.... Outside.... To devastating effect...

When I was younger, I opened up the floating chlorine tablet thing in the pool and sniffed it. I almost drowned bc it was so strong it made me lose my breath and almost pass out.

I'm no expert on WWI, but I think mustard gas was used more.
From the looks of it, chlorine gas will definitely kill you in a confined space. Outdoors, not so much.

They were used in unison. While mustard was more widely used later in the war, chlorine gas was the first "lethal" gas deployed by the Germans.
But you are correct in that chlorine gas, while deadly, was more of an irritant used before attacks, so while most were killed by bullets compared to gas, that was simply because they got shot before they drowned in their own saliva/their throats closed up

Dude I can't imagine the living hell that was trench warfare. What an abysmal war to fight in. The chemists war.

I can't imagine any warfare is good, much less with poisonous gas floating around.
