SARASOTA, Fla. -- A video posted to Facebook a Sarasota homeless man playing the piano is attracting attention and showing homeless people in a different light.
The man is playing on one of the public pianos that have been installed downtown. He can be seen playing the piano outside of Clasico on Main Street. In the Facebook video he is playing "Come Sail Away" by Styx.
Facebook user Aroar Natasha posted the popular video and said: "Sarasota installed 'public pianos' throughout downtown. This homeless man now has the opportunity to be something other than 'just a nuisance' to all the people downtown. Just took my breath away. Wow."
You can find a link to Natasha's video here. Her video currently has over 6,600 shares and 115,000 views.
We also found a different video posted to YouTube of the same man playing for what looks like a man and his son:
This guy can tickle the ivory keys. Cheers to you Hobo
Update: the news ran this story last night if anyone cares

The 51 year-old started with a clarinet as a kid, eventually playing the instrument for the U.S. Marine Corps. Shortly after his service, he returned to his home state of Michigan to study music education at Spring Arbor University with aspirations to one day teach music.
"I took music theory and ear training, and I had to learn how to play every instrument from the piccolo down to the tuba,” Gould says. “I can write parts like a handbook."
Gould says he ran out of money three semesters short of graduation, and took up other jobs as he started a family.
Then his wife suddenly passed away in 1998.
"They sat me down, and they told me what had happened, that my wife had passed away... and I just lost it man," Gould says.
He began to follow a destructive path that included substance abuse, which in turn led to the loss of his then 3-year-old son to Social Services.

In response to the viral video of Gould playing “Come Sail Away,” one community member has reached out to Surf Shack on St. Armands Circle, who indicated they would be willing to give the pianist a tryout as a potential act for their upstairs piano bar after the holiday weekend.
UPDATE
He gets cleaned up and a job
Good story update

How does he afford a piano when he's homeless?

Dennis Deyoung showed up shortly after this picture to audition for him.

Hate to be a dick here but...he's not that great.
Disclaimer: I just saw Ben Folds in concert last night so maybe my expectations are a bit high.

Considering that he is homeless, I bet he doesn't get to practice very much.
I'm sure you and your lavish lifestyle can do better.
