So far I've given the mortgage lender every bit of financial info, my blood type and a kidney. I would rather be bit by a snake than do this again.

they are gonna need a urine and semen sample from you next

Also I would avoid using a credit card or opening another credit account until you have signed about 1273 times on the dotted line

It is worth it in the end. Renting sucks.

It's a complete pain in the arse. Having to have your money sourced and seasoned was an unexpected bit that we had to deal with for our first mortgage, since part of our down payment was being given as a gift from in-laws.

This is the only part I don't have to deal with since there is about $130,000 in equity in the home.

I refi'd last year down to a 15 and it was pretty seamless. Maybe because I went through the same lender that did the original mortgage. Completed everything over email except the final documents which were signed in person in less than 15 minutes.

I tried that 2 years ago when the appraisals in our area were wonky and I'm just now doing it again. But I refused to use that same company because they have no idea what they are doing.

I know this probably is not normal, but my paperwork is settled to close on my first home and I have had 0 hang ups.

Thought it was going to be way worse.

This. Sold a car I had shortly before buying my house. They wanted so much documentation on why I had put that large of a cash deposit in my bank account.

Zillow and compare rates from online lenders. I have found that my experience dealing strictly with online lenders is much better than local shops.

Better rates, clearer line of communication, expectations are set along with time lines and closing costs are substantially less.

I don't need the hand holding or one-on-one in your face presentation. Everything today can be done via scanner and e-mail.

So they've probably gotten more info on you than thousands of Syrian refugees during the last months of the Obama term.
