It has probably already been mentioned, but does anyone else find it interesting that the drug in question was not found (or doesn't appear to be explicitly mentioned in any articles I have read) in any of the 15 arrests that have been made so far?

Also, STP Sherrif's office made it a point to mention that all of these people were both users and dealers; if none of them were in possession, why is this even pertinent? The more severe charge is clearly dealing, so why even throw it out there that they were allegedly users as well.

While the decreasing the presence of this drug (at least temporarily) in the area can be seen as a victory, I can't help but think that this may be some pretty blatant posturing by STPS to just throw a very general "racketeering" charge at any of these individuals they had reason to believe were using. Moreover, I am from the area, and knew that smack had grown in popularity since I was a kid, but a minimum 25-man operation would lead me to believe that you would be stacking OD'd bodies and kicking through used needles while walking your dog.

Damn Adams is a frick up...
quote:

He became a free agent after the 2012 season. Shortly thereafter, Adams tested positive for amphetamine and was suspended for 25 games by Major League Baseball.[2] He did not play at all in 2013.

quote:

Despite strong numbers, Adams battled injuries throughout his time with the club, and the Dodgers released him on July 9. A week later, Major League Baseball announced another suspension, this time for 100 games, after Adams violated the Minor League drug prevention and treatment program.

On June 28, 2015, it was announced that Adams had signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Well, I guess that's better, but I hope the father is being extremely vague about his son's legal predicament. I know Steve Korte is employed by WWL, but it seems like this would be the perfect situation to say "I don't have any comment at this time." To every question he's asked. Especially if he's talking to Deke's ignorant arse.

Saint Tammany has some pretty high standards if a few smack dealers is causing some clowns to jump in and shout "I told you so!"

He doubled off ole Jeet less than 2 years ago - any of us would have given everything to have what he had.

Ryan Adams was on the 8yo all star team I coached my first year in Mandeville back in 1995+/-. I recognized several names. I am very sorry to hear this. Hopefully these kids will kick this shite and get the help they need.

There are 19 people in the police lineup most of the white suspects are charged with stuff like-

Racketeering, Possession of Schedule II CDS- Cocaine (2 counts); and 40:968C Possession of Schedule II CDS, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule 1 CDS...

Two of the black suspects-
Possession of Marijuana & Disturbing the Peace. Is either of them a felony?

If these "kids" were actually dealing, then hopefully they will get the shite kicked out of them in prison.

If they were just using and not dealing, then hopefully they only get their lives together.

They probably sold to a undercover/informant during the 18 month investigation and the cops already have the evidence.

Kick the heroin habit. The racketeering is more than likely to lean on them to talk and plead.

I personally know one of those guys was hooked on oxy and heroin. He did it, and provided it to people I know. As far as major sales, I have no idea what went on. Minor stuff definitely went on (intra-venous) around him.

Surprised they didn't try and hit them with a RICO violation
