My wife's grandmother wrote her own obit, wrote the eulogy she wanted read, picked her pictures for the funeral and everything. Initially I thought it vain but it really does help the family and make the whole experience much easier.

My grandma planned and paid for her own funeral. Definitely makes life easier when all you have to do is make one phone call.

I'd want to take care of my funeral arrangements ahead of time too. People shouldn't have to deal with all the stupid details of planning a funeral when the death itself is already painful enough.
