If you're already out of a deep sleep because your alarm went off, why not just get out of bed?

What's the point of dozing off for 10-15 minutes of crap sleep when you could just set your first alarm for 10-15 minutes later and get more quality sleep?

Some people, like me, like to wake up a little at a time

My wife did this for years when we first moved in together. I think I've broken her of the habit after about 4 years.

My girlfriend sets so many fricking alarms that it eventually gets to where the one she has hit snooze on multiple times goes off only 1 minute earlier than another alarm she has set. Drives me fricking insane.

There's a constant alarm going off in my house from 5:30 until at least 6 when I leave for work.

A string of constant bitching and kicking her out of the bed when her first alarm goes off. I would also ask her what time she needed to get up and when her alarm was set for at night before bed.

I swear, almost all of our arguments were either about alarm clocks or what to eat for dinner.

Even when I'm waken from a deep sleep I'm still incredibly drowsy and can fall back asleep within seconds.

There is also no guarantee that I'll hear the first alarm.

Ever wake up 10 minutes before your alarm, and it's the best feeling of your life knowing you don't have to be awake right then and you can just relax just a bit more? Hitting the snooze button (and setting the alarm early enough to do it) is like having that feeling every day.

No. If it's 10 minutes before I get pissed and can't sleep anyway so I just get up.

If it's a couple hours before then I get that feeling.

I always wake up at least 20 minutes before my alarm. Instead of getting out of bed and starting the day earlier, I just go back to sleep and snooze for another 10 minutes. It's a vicious cycle

Human beings are imperfect. Plus, I've actually dreamt during a 10-minute snooze, SO, there may be something to the getting a little additional nap.

As I said, human beings are imperfect.

I set 3 b/c we have very flexible hours as long as we put in 9 + .5 hour lunch.
I like to get to work by 6:45 but our rule of thumb is don't worry about texting/emailing anyone unless coming in after 8. So, I see how I feel at alarm 1.

1. I'd like to get to work
2. I should get to work
3. I need to get to work.

Hope that explains why some of us do it.

This sounds like the obvious choice to me when I think about it during the day or at night. I think most people have every intention of jumping right out of bed and getting the day started. The problem is 6:00AM me does not have the same thought process at 6:00PM me.

Most people grow out of that. Only the super lazy still do it after 30

My wife does this and I don't get it.

I am up with my alarm. 5 minute increments of half-sleep are worthless.
