Today, the downtown area is covered in Robert Dafford murals and is flush with art galleries, music studios, and restaurants that the foodie-wannabes in Brooklyn can only dream about.
Where is there a music studio?

Baton Rouge > Lafayette
In what way? Baton Rouge has no culture. all BR really has to offer is LSU. Other than that there is a lot of white trash rednecks and a ton of tPOSs. I really love how people act like BR is not full of hipsters, douche bags, rednecks/whit trash and thugs.

Lafayette has a nice comedy scene going right now. They are getting headliners from all over the country. Other than that and festival international, it's nothing close to Austin. The food and music scene need to step up 10 fold to get on that level.

Feel sorry for the younger set that never saw the real Austin back in the day.
I went their 12 years ago and it was pretty awesome and eclectic.

There was one on Jefferson between Taft & Pinhook like 10 years ago, but it was just a bunch of local "rappers" so I don't know if that counts.

Man, hipsters been ouchea. Try getting into the damn horse farm park for a weekend stroll without someone schlepping essential oils and organic $12 juices.

I have never heard any one say this ever! EVER! Seriously not once in my life.

To do
I like how every thing on her TO DO list involved leaving Lafayette.

Or Austin, with its proliferation of gastropubs and boatloads of millennial partiers looking to experience a slice of the Redneck Riviera
Redneck Riviera????
That's retarded. Everyone knows the Redneck Riviera runs from Roughly Covington through the Florida Panhandle.
The Cajun Riviera is Bayou Lafouche.
The Coonass Riviera is the Amite River & Diversion Canal.
GET IT RIGHT!!!!

WARNING: Patois
Long ago Patois was good, some even say great, but I saw no evidence of this when I stopped by. The boudin balls were overfried and dry, the gumbo was cornstarched thick, and the fried crawfish bits were something I could have gotten anywhere. The only saving grace was the live music. I saw the Michot brothers play and am thankful I did — they were lovely.
Where is this place?
It doesn't exist. This person is terribly confused.

Going to see Brooks Wheelan do stand up tonight. And yeah, Lafayette and Austin are worlds apart. Still, Lafayette is way better than BR though.

I thought Baton Rouge was Louisiana's Austin?

People who say this never leave their cul-de-sac or dorm room. Baton Rouge has a lot to offer, especially downtown, Perkins Overpass, and in Mid City. Check out White Light Nights on Friday the 20th if you don't believe me. It runs down the length of Government Street from around approximately Baton Rouge High to Monjunis. There will be art for sale, multiple live bands, shops selling all kinds of stuff, tons of food, ect. It's a great event that they do twice a year (the Summer version is called "Hot Art, Cool Nights").
Baton Rouge has constant festivals downtown. It has a growing bar scene downtown with new restaurants and housing units opening up all the time.
Basically, the only things that are really lagging for a Hipster in BR are a professional soccer team, and a bustling original music scene (BR has a music scene, but it could use some work).
You don't think a Hipster would be happy with Table, Radio Bar, Atomic Pop Shop, Time Warp, Chelsea's, Spanish Moon, City Pork, Highland Coffees, ect?
