After this storm. Between New Orleans myriad of long standing problems, new vaccine passport mandates from our dipshit mayor, and these storms becoming seemingly more frequent and intense, I think Im just at the end of my rope.

And this obviously extends beyond New Orleans to all of south LA and the rest of the gulf coast.

The rest of us have been asking for years. Why does it take the addition of a hurricane to see the light?

I realize that but the same chances of destruction are possible every year across the gulf coast, multiple times a year. My bail out plan was the north shore but that place is getting fricked almost worse than the city.

i have a good job here. if i were to somehow lose it, im out of this state. I love it, but its not the best for my family if i don't have my job here. Quality of life somewhere else would be a hell of a lot better

There are 50 states. If you have the financial means and marketable skills live your life. Be free. The internet can connect you with people all over.

It's not the hurricane for me, but covid was the last straw, i gave in to some of the bs for the fun. And could even see the qualities people preach.

But the people are also the worst enemy and ive seen a populace bow down to a dog faced count from California.

And when this storm is over, all of those people will be blaming everyone else.

Most places have some kind of natural disaster risk you have to accept by choosing to live there. I would argue that New Orleans is more severe on that dimension than many other places so it’s just a fact of life if you want to live in Southern LA.

California has fires and earthquakes, much of the country deals with ice and snow for 5 months or more out of the year, some areas have a bunch of tornadoes that are unpredictable.

I enjoy living in Portland, OR far more than I enjoyed living in New Orleans. Let that sink in. And New Orleans is “home” (I mean except for London, mates).

So was I so I bailed. Never looked back. Definitely never going back. Do it. You won’t regret it. You’ll most likely regret not doing it.

It’s hard to leave a place you love and consider “home”. I understand.

I have never encountered people more parochial than those from New Orleans. They believe it’s the center of the universe. Festivals and parades are nice and all, and the natives are friendly, but sometimes you need jobs, a growing economy, solid infrastructure, and good public schools. You can always fly in for the festivals and Mardi Gras if that’s your thing. New Orleanians thrive on nostalgia. Ain’t dere no more baby. Unfortunately, New Orleans peaked in the 1960s and 70s. It’s been downhill since. Mr. Bingle has left the building.

Just GTFO of Louisiana, you'll feel much better. You could find an even better job away from the bullshite in a much nicer state.
