Climbing the corporate ladder is a bitch. I had to fire the gal who hired me and trained me. She was a redhead and somewhat of a cougar. She had a drinking problem. I thought the third round was unusual for a corporate lunch on my final interview at first but she held her liquor well. She set a lunch with me for no reason. I thought I was getting fired. Two hours before the lunch, I got another call from our VP ops offering me the job. She was going to fire me because she was trying to keep me from replacing her. I went to the lunch and fired her instead.

Story doesn't make sense. She was going to fire you before you were hired?

How was that mean? Bad situation yes but if that lady was getting drunk on the clock and planning to fire you to keep her job then it's pretty cut and dry what had to be done.

My question is why didn't the executives handle that? Or handle it sooner. Your company sounds shady.

The saddest part is she needed the job for insurance because she had a preexisting condition.

Well in that case get ready for the lawsuit.

1. Woman - check
2. Preexisting issue - check
3. Willing to fire you for something that was her fault - check

4. Gettin' Sued - Check

I don't know guys, if I was going to make up a story about firing a drunk redhead I would've at least talked about banging her in the board room or something.

You should leave your company if the HR is that incompetent. It would never happen at a well run company like that

unless you're in some kind of white trash mafia (in which case I take it "fire" means "shoot her in the face", I don't believe you...that's not how the "corporate ladder" works

that's not how any ladder works

I'm pretty ruthless to the competition, I pretty much dominate my market thus I've seen at least 5 of my competitors reps come and go. When I see one of the new guys around I just smile and treat them nice telling them good luck. But deep down I know I'm going to kick their arse and make sure they sell so little that in 18-24 months or less they will be unemployed.

I feel mean but the truth is it's my job to put my foot on their throat and make my company more successful.
