Most inventions you think of have already been thought of by others. The trick is marketing and sales.

Off track slightly but I was sitting by this gentleman yrs ago on a long plane flight, started talking, and it came out that his father, a long time Sheriff in Ohio, came up with the idea years ago for the reflectors on all state & Federal highways. Family has been millionaires ever since & he said his father sold the rights to his invention for $.01 for every reflector used from the date of the sale on going. Said the idea came to his father after a multi car multi persons fatality in which a car crossed the center line late at night.

Awesome idea, but....
Patent

This patent is simply for a traditional weight stack machine with electromagnetic couplers. So instead of pulling and replacing a pin in the stack, there's an electromagnetic coupler that works from the press of a button. At least this is what I got out of the abstract.

My idea is to rid the weight stack all together. Think electromagnetic shocks, but on a weight machine. And there may very well be a patent out there for it. I have never looked. It's just an idea I've had since HS or so. Before I even really had a grasp on how electromagnetism works. I think it spawned from working out alone with free weights.

Sure. Just hasn't had the 5 million of start up capital and working capital to proceed. Also afraid of getting a bunch of investors and failing or getting taken by business people far more savvy than myself. To adverse to the risk when I already have a great career and my wife and 4 kids are depending on me. Just don't care to leave that comfort zone we are in right now.

You are correct, my bad. Also, I ran across this idea of magnets for weight lifting.

Me. I even hold the patent for it. But it's difficult to have someone license it and get it manufactured.

Won't discuss without an NDA in place.

and i'm actually going to do this lol. like this year once the newborn gets settled in and i can get normal sleep.

you know the myers briggs personality test , like no matter what you put in, they always show you in the best light.

I want to take a test, then tells you the truth about yourself. Like if you are an ENFP instead of pumping someone's ego telling them they are the life of the party tell them "you're a skank that jumps from one dick to the next, you can't hold down a job because reasons."

Do you need overseas manufacturers?

I have a couple ideas that I think could make some good money. Not millions, well maybe over time.

My company does a lot of overseas production, I'm just trying to find the right manufacturer for one of my ideas.

I had an idea for a 2500 square foot sponge. Place it in the ocean and forget about sea level rising due to global warming.

I have had one forever, since the 90s, that would save tons of lives and hundreds of millions per year but it is about to be obselete due to self-driving cars.

I've had an idea for a long time to incorporate electromagnetics into a weightlifting machine. Rather than slinging around heavy iron and multiple plates or bands, just a rod/core and a coil plugged into a controller. Dial in your resistance.

If you have a viable idea don't do what you just did. Whether or not a internet message board is equivalent to a published document for this purpose is a ongoing legal debate, but why take a chance.

"Public Disclosure
The USPTO has a One-Year Rule that requires that your patent application is filed within one year of the first Public Disclosure. A public disclosure can be any of the following situations: showing or describing the invention without first obtaining a signed NDA, describing it in a published document, offering the invention for sale or actually selling it. If you fail to apply for a patent within one year of any of the above instances, the invention will be considered to be in the public domain and not eligible for a patent."
