What was your experience like? I'm curious to hear stories! What is the difference between a sociopath and psychopath?

Take the one less traveled. It will make all the difference.

Most people overuse those terms.

I was a staff psychiatrist in a maximum level prison for a brief while.

I met 2 of them.

Chilling people. No guilt. No emotion. They view other people as no more important than the most insignificant object in the room.

All that is important is what they want at that exact moment. They can't have normal conversations because everything they say is a set up for how they can manipulate you later. They will change their mannerisms, behaviors, even their subtle patterns of speech by 180 degrees based on who is in the room.

You don't want to meet one.

It's nauseating.

went to school with a kid who you could tell was a bit off, he was the kid people avoided on the play ground because you didn't know if today was going to be the day his attention would be on you, and if it was god help you. Teachers didn't do much with him because his folks were pretty damn rich. I ended up moving, so I don't know if they ever ended up kicking him out of school or not, but anyways flash forward to his twenties and he ended up killing his ex-girlfriend and her dog with his bare hands, he's in jail now for the rest of his life thankfully.

This was in BR in the 90's when I went to school with him and 2000s when he murdered his ex and her dog. Pretty sure its been mentioned on this board before.

Easy to meet a psychopath and not realize it. Sociopaths stand out.

Worked with a guy, seemed a little off through the limited interactions I had with him, ended up getting apprehended at the Cali/Mexico border after stabbing/cutting up his mom in a hotel room.

Guess he was like Gosling's character in Drive. Quiet, could see the gears in his head turning when he was trying to be social.

I knew two people completely unable to have sympathy, remorse, or respect for human life.

One has lived at Angola for 5-6 years now. The other is going to be there within the year.

I had a Aryan Nation guy who wanted to kill me every time he drank alcohol. Total looney tunes. Apparently I looked like his brother who did something to him what he did I don't know but it couldn't have been good.

they don't get contagious yawns.

easiest tell

LINK

quote:

You are sitting at home, watching TV. You yawn. Your partner tries to resist, but can't, and soon he or she yawns, too. It's not just in your head: Yawning is contagious, not just in humans but in many species. It's even contagious between us and our dogs. [1] Empathy is one of the core psychological factors that leads to catching yawns [2], a critical point underpinning a new study [3] indicating that psychopaths may be immune to contagious yawns. Psychopathy is defined, in part, by a lack of empathy. Could this make people with the trait impervious to their peers' yawns?

Psychopath: yes...tried to murder me in my sleep then felt bad about it a few days later

Sociopath: yes... Lived with one a long time- they are so f*cked in the head they don't even realize they are being evil and thnik their evil deeds are being good or a compliment . Total delusion
