Let's go back 20 years to 1995. At that time there was a subset of society that found their niche by socializing with others via the new technology called the Internet. It was a godsend to antisocial or socially awkward individuals. They could have "friends" like the rest of us without leaving their room. But the vast majority of society still socialized in person or on the phone. This majority looked at those who socialized on the Internet as outcasts.

Fast forward to 2015. Look at us. Try telling a co-worker something in person and you'll get a look that says "why the frick are you telling me this in person, send me an email".

I guess the chat room nerds of the mid-90's were just ahead of the rest of us

You're apparently extremely cool and NOT a nerd and asking this question on a message board. So yes, they won.

Think of it this way, the ability for you to ask this question on this forum is only because of nerds.

Like lunch money, regular people just stole it from the nerds and made it theirs. And by stole it, I mean made those nerds bazillionaires

Not really. Only problem is the lack of hoverboards.

Nerds won way before the internet.

Nerds have been winning at least since the 1870s. Sure, they may have been getting their asses kicked in elementary and high school, but they won in the end. Physical strength was something that was only prized by low skill workers, while the nerds figured out that their intelligence and creativity will make the meatheads work for them.

If by "won" you mean changing society to benefit the small, weak, and unintelligent....Yeah.

I will say that passive/aggressive behavior has pretty much become the norm now. Thanks to the internet, young people don't have enough social skills to handle any form of conflict resolution. You're pissed...bitch about it online instead of actually dealing with it.

I could have told you this back in 2001-2002 when the hipster movement started. Started seeing chuck taylors and two-tones come back.
