I'm probably too old to "rock" anything, but I do have a serious collection of frayed Polo hats, complete with salt stains from the sweat. My favorite LSU hat looks about the same. Speaking of which, I hadn't seen that thing lately.

my old LSU hat is horribly sweat stained, as it is my yard work hat, but it is not frayed
but daily hat, a Polo hat (yes, I'm a huge tryhard) which I don't wear when I'm working in the yard or sweating, is frayed
I guess some hats are just more easily frayed than others
