^^^ if this is how you really feel, I hope that attitude begins to permeate thru the rest of the PD's in this country. Reasonable perspective, and well articulated.

That being said, I've met some completely shady cops, but also quite a few actual police officers who you could tell we're trying to do their job the right way.

Going into a blind encounter with law enforcement feels like pulling numbers out of a hat these days, as far as the randomness of what you're going to get.

We're probably not that far off when it comes to our opinions of law enforcement. I know there are good ones and bad ones. I wouldn't want their jobs to props to the good ones, but all the power-tripping assholes can suck a bag of dicks.

The fact that so often cops can blatantly lie and have all the other cops support the lie or at least protect the wrong-doing is evidence enough that corruption is widespread in police departments.
