Andre Moreau is leaving WAFB-TV after eight years behind the nightly anchor desk. His last day on the air will be Friday, Sept. 2.

Neither Moreau nor station executives will discuss what led to the departure. WAFB News Director Robb Hays will say only that, “Andre has been a big part of our success story, and we’re sorry to see him go. But we support his decision to enter a new chapter in his life.”

Moreau says he is exploring several options and has already been approached by several individuals and organizations about potential opportunities. He says he wants to stay in Baton Rouge. During the station’s recent continuous coverage of the catastrophic flooding, Moreau was noticeably absent from the air.

He says he had previously scheduled to take this week off. He will return to the air next week and will appear nightly until his last day early next month.
