According to the US News story:

quote:

Oil pulling, an ancient Ayurvedic folk practice, dates back 3,000 to 5,000 years to traditional Indian medical remedies. Advocates claim swishing any type of oil in your mouth every day will whiten your teeth, reduce bacteria, strengthen your gums and jaw, improve your skin, clear your sinuses, prevent ?bad breath and even protect against heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

Well, you can go ahead and use motor oil. Everyone I know uses coconut oil. And make sure you spit, don't swallow.

I skimmed this thread earlier.

Had to pick up some stuff from walmarks. Decided to get some coconut oil and give it a shot. I looked down the oil isle and only found a thick Cisco type coconut oil.

How does coconut oil come? Is there a liquid version say, the consistency of olive oil?

Homeopathy makes me LOL.

ETA: It might make your teeth white, IDK, but "pulling toxins from your body" is bullshite because there is no such thing.

That's generally how it comes. When I bought mine at SAMs it was in liquid form because it was so freaking hot, once we got home it solidified because our house is cool. I usually put it in a cup and heat it with warm water. You can use it in the solid state though, obviously once it's in your mouth it will liquefy.

I found an organic, extra virgin brand at SAMs. I feel confident Kroger would have it. GNC sells it, but theirs is expensive.

Sam's or Costco has what you need. They sell a big container for around $15.
The stuff from Walmart doesn't even smell like coconuts. It's refined.

And yes, Coconut oil solidifies under 76 degrees.

Yeah, the kind at Walmart actually kind of stinks. The one from SAMs actually smells like coconuts. I've been using it in everything.
