Has anyone sold their high school ring for gold money?

I'm considering it, not exactly sure how much mine's worth (10 karat) but a couple hundred extra bucks next month would come in handy. For those who have sold theirs, how much did you get and do you regret it? I'm not attached to mine, it just sits in a small box that I keep in a closet and never mess with.

Not exactly sure how this relates to my question, but no...

I'm not a geek, so I never purchased class rings.

Sell.

Couple hundred is about what you should get. that's what I was told when I brought my class ring and state champ ring to one of those "we buy gold" places. Just wanted to see what it was worth, still have both rings...

I sold mine. Didn't get much. Maybe 80, mine was white gold. Also they trash the stone, so if you want it I would take it out

Mine was stolen from my parents house. Insurance paid $300 towards a new one, which I never bought, but I did make a weekend trip to the beach with the cash. Does that count?

My stone (emerald) is already chipped pretty good so I don't really care about it. FWIW this is a class of '92 ring, back when rings were still popular...

The only ring a man should ever have is a wedding band or a championship ring from a sport. I'd also allow graduates of service academies some slack.

Used my dads high school ring and added my year onto it. So obviously wouldn't get rid of that

What a waste of money that thing was. If kids aren't falling for the hype these days, it gives me hope for the next generation.

Paid around $300 or so for mine back in 99. Sold it to a pawn shop a few years later for $30

It's a big deal at many High Schools. We had a special ring ceremony where the seniors gave rings to the juniors. Even the poors bought rings.
