The closest I have been, and not involved, was the North Las Vegas riots during the Rodney King riots. I know you're asking for participation though.

There was a riot on LSU campus around 1999. Or maybe a march. It was about football ticket prices or something, called SHAFT. Marched from the union all the way down to the end of the street.

I was there.

When I was with 1/7 and we returned from Desert Storm, some of us were fapped over to 1/3, the thundering third battalion, for temp duty while a lot of that battalion hadn't returned. In may we were assigned to LAPD's Rampart Division and posted on Crenshaw BLVD during the 1992 riots to help with looting and other garbage. It was some pretty scary, tense stuff.

Got caught in a soccer "riot" on the Champs Élysées when France beat Brazil in the 2006 World Cup. My family and I had to hug the walls and make our way up the street while people threw bottles and the riot police charged. They smashed the windows at the McDonalds, shot off fireworks in the street, etc. and the Metro was closed so we had to walk all the way to Montmartre.
