Has anyone heard of this scam regarding carjackings?

Beware, it's headed your way.
Just last weekend on Friday night we parked in a public parking area. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home, it was a receipt for gas.. Luckily my friend told me not to stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the car.. Then we received this email yesterday:
WARNING FROM POLICE
THIS APPLIES TO BOTH
WOMEN AND MEN
BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE--NEW WAY TO DO
CARJACKING (NOT A JOKE)
Heads up everyone!
Please, keep this circulating.. You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into reverse..
When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle
of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.
And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.
So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys.
Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!
BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.
If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this e-mail. I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want it to fall into the wrong hands.

Won't work on me,I'm too lazy to get out. I'd just drive off and let the paper fly off somewhere

Why wouldn't they just sit and wait for you to get into your car initially and attack? Why do they need to put a piece of paper on the back window. Makes no sense

The joke is on the carjackers when they leave and some one else flashes their head lights at them. If they flash back then they will be murdered.

who doesn't see a piece of paper large enough to obstruct your view BEFORE getting in the car. You normally approach your parked car from the rear unless you are a douche who backs in. if thats the case you deserve to get jacked.

You obviously don't drive a truck. Ask your boyfriend why people back in trucks.

The point is your car is started with keys in ignition, they jump into your now unlocked running car while you are standing behind it.

I'm now going to forward this to fearful people I work with that work later than I do. After about a week, I'm going to start putting a sticker on the rear window of the car.

Not if they catch you as you are opening the door

But then they have to try to take your keys from you as well. If you're car is already started and you are behind it, all they have to do is hop in and take off.

Wouldn't work unless they are less than 10ft away from you and you would obviously see them. You know how fast I can get out and grab a piece of paper off of my back glass? Less than 10 seconds. Nobody would be able to hop in that quick without me seeing them already approaching me

Shiney
I can't tell you the last time I looked in my rearview to back up. Cameras with the moving parking lines are the tits
