Anyone have any success with a product to remove this stuff? I am not talking soap scum. Any recommendations?

Remove shower door
Throw shower door in trash
Stain gone.
Bathroom less trashy.

we have very expensive glass shower enclosure and it's the worst decision we ever made....will never have them again. We have very hard water and it etches the glass terribly. I have had the best luck with vinegar and a Mr. Clean magic eraser.

If it's not too far gone. Look into bio-clean. Local glass shop will possibly have it. We sell it in our shop and have used it on all my shower doors.
If you ever buy a new door get shower guard glass or some other coating on there.

The problem with Baton Rouge water is that the stains, while they build relatively slowly, is that they are silicate based. CLR and its more powerful cousins are aimed at calcium-based stains. Our glass stains laugh at CLR.
As another poster mentioned, Bio-Clean can be effective. Use a dampened pad of #0000 steel wool with it. Rub till your arm falls off. Then throw shower door in trash.
That headlight restorer looks like an interesting idea.

Equal parts vinegar and dawn dishwashing soap
scrub
profit from not buying new door.

This, but heat it up first in the microwave before applying with a spray bottle. Scrub with a stiff brush.

I'm fighting the same thing at my new house. It's only 2 years old, so it isn't bad, but I wanted to clean it before I put rain-x on it. (Yes thus works, assuming your door is new or freshly polished). CLR did nothing. I took some Mcguires glaze and a rotary polisher. It helped, but wasn't 100%. Good enough for me to go ahead and apply the rain-x though.

Another option:
It actually works quite well. I had an old door that was too far gone. Several coats of this later and it looked like new (frosted) glass.
