Boost is instant on a supercharger, you'd have likely heard the whine from it. But yeah, be wary of GTO's...either have a 5.7 or 6.0...and id be willing to bet 75+% of the 2000's model GTO's are modded pretty decently. I'm assuming youre still in your Challenger R/T?
ETA: And if you're going to boost the RT to 500+ hp, make sure you beef up the rear half shafts, or you'll likely snap em like twigs.

Or find an isolated, straight, WIDE road. Block it off at both ends. Have lookouts for police and cut loose. A little recon will find a suitable area. We got an place here we go. Got about 3-4 miles of straight, smooth highway. Wide arse, smooth shoulders and lanes. Almost like a 4 lane with shoulders in width.
