It's been years since I lived in Baton Rouge. My elderly mother has a pile of trash and household items piled up by the street, and the garbage collection guys won't pick it up.

I was wondering if there's are still any compactor dumping sites around town. I know that there used to be one at the end of Gardere Lane many years ago. Are there any options besides hauling the trash out to the landfill in North Baton Rouge?

Call 311. They should pick it up. You may have to separate it out into different piles.

She had her kitchen remodeled, so there includes old cabinets and other lumber items that may be considered construction debris. Could that be the reason why they arent picking it up?

The dumpster option it's a possibility, but in my mind, if I have to pick it up and put it in the dumpster I might as well put it in my pick up truck and bring it to a dump and not have to pay for the cost of haulng.

Definitely could be. Why didn't the contractor haul away the debris?

The contractor was a jackleg. Mom is 84 and likes to handle things herself. But she couldn't afford a decent contractor.

The EBR landfill charges you for dumping construction materials. It's not much, maybe $15, but not free, FYI. That's why they won't pick it up curbside.

Those bagsters are stupid expensive, it's like $210 I think total. $30 for bag and $180 to pick up.

Call whoever does your mom's trash weekly, if it's the city they will probably pick it up you just need to know you remodeled it. They don't pick up construction debri usually for contractors but they'll pick it up for the property owner.

The dump in Sorrento is $35 for a carload and I think $45 for a truck bed.
