Do people actually prefer hand dryers to paper towels in public restrooms? My hands are never completely dry when having to use a hand dryer, especially the old crappy ones.

Ain't nobody got time for using a hand dryer. Paper towels any day.

Plenty of studies online showing that those blowers tend to blow fecal matter around the room and basically leave you nastier than before you washed your hands. I am not at all a germophobe but that grosses me out.

quote:

Research published in the American Journal of Infection Control shows that toilets can cause bacteria and viruses to be thrown into washroom air. At the point of flushing a toilet a plume of air is produced. This allows microorganisms from within the toilet to be dispersed into the air around you. A study in The Journal of Hospital Infection shows that bacteria found in fecal matter can become suspended in washroom air after the toilet is flushed. These microorganisms can stay suspended in the air for over an hour. According to Dyson, conventional hand dryers can draw in this contaminated air, blowing bacteria directly onto washed hands. Hands are a major vector for harmful microorganisms, with more than 80 percent of infectious diseases being transmitted by touch. Damp hands can spread 1000 times more bacteria than dry hands. Therefore drying your hands is just as important as washing them properly.

When I was in college, a professor told the class, "You ever wonder why there are no hand dryers in a surgical scrub room?".

Not to mention, I use my hand towel to open the bathroom door so I don't have to touch that nasty fricking handle. Places with only hand dryers can frick off and die.

Hand Dryers suck

If you don't wash your hands you don't have to worry about it though

I know these places think it's cost effective to not have people waste towels, but I really fricking hate having to use hand dryers.

Our IT guy will come out of the stall and walk right out of the door, a few minutes later I'll see him working on some chicks computer.

After he leaves I'll go tell her and watch her gross out :)

I can't put my hands in there without touching it. How is that more hygienic? If someone before you used it after not properly washing their hands, then you are just going to get sprayed with their filth.
