There seems to be some confusion on whether user info has already been posted or not. The hackers say that they are doing this because AM.com retains credit card info after they claim to delete it.

quote:

The secret’s out. Maybe lots of secrets. Data stolen by hackers from AshleyMadison.com, the online cheating site that claims 37 million users, has been posted online, according to Krebs on Security, the authoritative Web site that monitors hacking across the globe.

The breach was confirmed in a statement from Avid Life Media, Inc., which owns AshleyMadison. “We apologize for this unprovoked and criminal intrusion into our customers’ information.”

Krebs reported that “The Impact Team” is threatening to expose all customer records unless Avid Life Media takes AshleyMadison and Established Men offline “permanently in all forms.”

No worries here.

I never needed a series of tubes to get my knob polished.

How the frick does that make sense?

That's like beating up 80 year old walmart greeters because Walmart doesn't pay then overtime

Well maybe that's a shitty example but the connection is still there

My thoughts exactly. While we're at it let's go ahead and ban coed work spaces, bars, restaurants, etc. Let's just ban male's fraternizing with females in all forms. Just seems like that always leads to trouble.

I don't think that is why the users are being punished.

I'd wager most of the users would rather their CC info retained than being exposed on that site. I thought maybe the hackers were morally crusading but that's just dumb.

Are you kidding? It makes PERFECT sense. Its the perfect shakedown....your site's fricked regardless of what you do. I'm on the fence here...I think those people should have their privacy protected.....on the other hand...damn am I curious to see who is on that list.......

Given the quote from the hackers, I was going to say that the police need to look at women:

quote:

“Too bad for those men, they’re cheating dirtbags and deserve no such discretion,” the hackers wrote.

But now I think they need to look at our very own poster Henry Jones Jr.

The hackers do realize that there are women on the site too? It takes two to tango as they say.

Me either I think they're using their internet powers to "fight the good fight" and obtain attention. Lots of poor guys stuck in a relationship with a fat miserable shrew are going to pay for this unfortunately.
