So they can afford a fairly upscale hotel, but choose to live on the street most of the time? I don't get this at all.

I remember hearing about that story. Girl was pretty before and free spirit type then ended up some black gutter dudes slave then he killed her for little or no reason, if I recall correctly. Sad shite.

You don't understand the lifestyle, bro. When Mommy or Daddy give them some cash to help out that means it's time to check into a nice hotel to set up a base of operations and start working the next big plan.
The plan usually concludes with sitting on the street and telling strangers "You need to relax! You're in New Orleans now!"
I've yet to try the drug that would make me relaxed enough to sleep on a New Orleans sidewalk and start getting fricked up with the Sun up.

They are scum of the fricking earth. Most come from stable homes with caring families but they choose to be obnoxious shite stains. At any moment they can call mommy and daddy for help but they think its cool to live this rebel life style where you smell like sewer arse and shot dope. This isn't necessarily true. I hung out with an entire gutter punk crew in LSU around Nicholson and Violet/Iris street back in 2001-2002 and some of them had cars, the other had bikes, but they were all definitely gutter punks.
