People here remember this one - clown in a pickup truck passes traffic on the shoulder of I10 in the fog runs out of room at the Pearl River bridge and slams into an 18 wheeler in the right lane which slams into another 18 wheeler in the left lane that was passing. The trucker in the left lane is killed when his truck gets pushed off the bridge into the river.

Trucker was identified as a 26 year old guy from Bama. The driver of the pickup truck that caused this fled the scene but was later arrested.

Sentence? 5 years. Kill a human being with your vehicle by being a negligent a-hole and you get a whopping 5 years.

Justice indeed.

Honestly, cement shoes seems to be the only suitable punishment.

Dang. Happened last November and the trial is already over? That's fast.

Should've gotten at least 15

Unless I read it wrong he got 10 years. 5 for negligent homicide and 10 for hit and run. Judge suspended 5 from the 10.

Sentences to be served simultaneously. The 10 year sentence got shaved to 5, so he will serve a total of five years minus time already served.

The 26 year old was the semi driver. The POS who ran him off the road was from Gulfport.

Reading comprehension. Try it sometime.

Not to sound like an a-hole, but how exactly did that kill the trucker? Even if he couldn't swim, it seems he could have guided his way to the top of the truck. Am I missing something?

ETA: I just read the post below me "at that speed".. So I'm assuming it was a violent crash. I suppose I should read the article.

ETA: Previously posted article says he died from injuries sustained during the crash, so I suppose it wasn't drowning.

It's incredible to me that a tractor-trailer can go off a bridge at that speed and stay hooked
