Think of it as your company sees 10 patients...how can you maximize cash for those 10 visits by doing your best to NOT bill the patient if you can help it. It's nice to keep patients out of it...loved that part of the job
So it's your job to drive healthcare costs up?

You're divorced already with a 4 year old son and asking the OT if it's okay to get laid off from your job.
My perspective isn't yours.

well, you are making the right choice in staying near your son...you will never regret that one...
I was actually laid off once...it was back in the mid '80s when the oilfield fell flat. I honestly seemed like the end of the world in that my company had laid me off and the market was so flat that no one else would even entertain the idea of an interview...
I have to say, the worst things about it was not only the feeling of financial insecurity, but also the flat out feeling of rejection....
I went back to school just to basically fill some time while looking for a job and it turned out to be a real blessing....I went on to get an engineering degree and ended up quite a bit better off financially than I was before I got laid off...
give yourself a little time to lick your wounds if you need to...and then pick yourself up and hit the job search with a vengance...with a resume like yours, if you just flood the market with your info, you should at least get some bites...
when you least expect it, you will wind up with a new job...

Jesus. My job was to maximize revenue for an industry that by law can provide medical services for free. My sole purpose was to take the burden off the average Joe that couldn't afford the ridiculous bills that come with unexpected healthcare costs. I'm the good guy

I'm going through the same thing. Found out my department is consolidating out of state. Job ends in August. Very good severance package, but it still sucks to lose a 20 year job. I'm a collection manager for a subprime auto portfolio in Louisiana and Mississippi. Will work for food.

Ok. I'm familiar with the kind of work you do. I've worked in healthcare for a while on the Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement side and financial accounting side.
That link had a job that looked right up your alley.

now we know why medical costs are so fricking high.
Posted on 3/3/14 at 8:31 pm to East Coast Band
medical cost are escalating because of one federal program
The secondary reason is litigation
Add in more federal regulation, and yea the cost are runaway

After reading the thread you do seem like a complete douche who thinks he is more important than he really is. Congratulations on the title though.

So much fail in here...really.
You get sick, are rushed to the ER. You WILL get treated regardless if you have health insurance or not. That Dr. still has to be compensated. Multiply that by 5m patients a year and you see where costs make it difficult to stay in business. If insurance companies didn't pay 1/5 of what it costs to employ that Dr that saved your life then all would be well in the world.
It's like walking into a store and taking something off the shelf and not paying for it. The insured have to pay for the ones that can't/won't. That's healthcare. It sucks but you're alive.
