Without scrolling down, I hope somebody has mentioned already this is a hoax and didn't actually happen.

re: Google Earth Finds Woman Trapped on Deserted Island for 7 Years
seems to be bullshite

quote:

A fake story claiming that Google Earth found Gemma Sheridan on a deserted island has gone viral. The story claims that Google Earth spotted an SOS sign on the deserted island made by Sheridan who was lost in a 2007 storm.
The fake story surrounding Gemma Sheridan was first published by News-Hound. The article claims that Google Earth captured an SOS photo from the island where Sheridan was located. This photo allegedly led to the woman’s rescue.

However, upon further investigation, the photo appears to be from 2010 during a time of destruction in Kyrgyzstan. The photo in the fake article is cropped to make it appear like the SOS signal was made on a sandy beach. However, the real photo is nowhere near an island as industrial buildings can be seen surrounding the SOS.
The story from News-Hound may have been plagiarized and taken from a real story surrounding Ed Stafford. Stafford spent 60 days on a deserted island in 2013. The original article stems from the Daily Mail who reported on Stafford’s story. Much of the text in the Gemma Sheridan hoax story is verbatim from Daily Mail’s Ed Stafford article.
News-Hound has not publicly commented on the false reporting and has not confirmed or denied that the majority of the context was plagiarized from Ed Stafford’s story.
