Did you read how they want to start digging up Confederate graves? This is off the charts crazy. I bet you support it though.
It's the flag of an army that took arms against the U.S. The dictionary and constitution both define that as treason. The confederates were traitors, and they were pardoned. We've no beef with them, but traitors they were, no matter how much we romanticize their plight. But yeah, the other stuff is crazy. Just take down the traitor's flag and let's move on.

It's the only bullshite "confederate memorial" there is. It was hoisted in 1961 as a proud racist cry of proud racists whose political agenda of the time involved paralleling the plight of the confederates with that of the segregationists 100 years later. Disgusting. We've lived our entire lives under the auspice that Johnny Reb and Jim Crow are the same guy because of the unfortunate success of a political movement of racist revisionist historians with an evil agenda that belongs nowhere near otherwise solemn confederate memorials.

Any other instance of that flag flying on state grounds is when the flag is in a set of every flag that has flown over the land it covers.

Confederate memorials are good reminders of pieces of our history, but this particular piece of a confederate memorial just doesn't belong. It is specifically the work of racists.

How can you be a traitor if you are not a member of the United States? They filed for succession and were no longer part of the US when war broke out. Besides President Grant invited Lee to the White House for a visit, not something President do for traitors, especially ones that literally fought against each other on the battlefield.

Who says it's hard for me to understand this stupid point? The CSA flag is the flat of traitors against the United States. The USA flag is a flag of traitors to the crown, so that's not what we're talking about. We are talking about treason against the republic for which our flag stands.

Stupid, retarded point. Derp. Melt.

I am against taking it down. Not for the same reasons as most. I have never bought a Confederate flag. I just have no need to have one even though I speak with a southern accent.

I am against almost anything that a few pseudo intellectuals tell the stupid that they have to be for. Giving the media a cause to promote so that they can raise ratings and sway the minds of the ignorant is big business.

I would guess at least 95% that are up in arms about anything Confederate did not care last week. The wealthy have now manipulated the poor, once again, into caring about something irrelevant.

If these "huge" causes keep coming up, we will never get around to asking why our politicos, on both sides, are incompetent and dishonest. We will neglect teaching Johnny and Shaniqua trig and biotechnology. We will neglect defending our borders and giving companies that sell their products here incentive to have American workers produce these products.

I think we need to prioritize and this is trivial compared to our real problems. It is boiling on the front burner due to manipulation and a media campaign.

TL;DR I am against taking the flag down because it is inconsequential minutiae compared to the real problems we should be tackling.

But look at the redneck meltdown. Obviously it's more than that. If it was really trivial, the flag would have been taken down completely in 1999. The meltdown alone justifies opposition to the flag and why it should be taken down so as not to insult the history of our southern ancestors who don't deserve to have their legacies braided with Jim Crow segregationist politics.

The person who refuses to let the flag go is not in a position to criticize others for valuing the flag too highly.

For the last couple of months, Senator Rumson has suggested that being President of this country was, to a certain extent, about character. And although I've not been willing to engage in his attacks on me, I have been here three years and three days, and I can tell you without hesitation - being President of this country is entirely about character. For the record, yes, I am a card-carrying member of the ACLU, but the more important question is: 'Why aren't you, Bob?' Now this is an organization whose sole purpose is to defend the Bill of Rights, so it naturally begs the question, 'Why would a Senator, his party's most powerful spokesman and a candidate for President, choose to reject upholding the Constitution?' Now if you can answer that question, folks, then you're smarter than I am, because I didn't understand it until a few hours ago. America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You've gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say, 'You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.' You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Now show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then, you can stand up and sing about the land of the free.

I'm just calling it as i see it, and I'm sure there are many others that feel the same way as I do. That's what the left wants.
