Well if nobody else is gonna start it...
Gonna hit the range tomorrow. Playing in the dogfight in Crowley Wednesday (pending weather) and Friday. Probably going back to work in Oklahoma Sunday or Monday.
Hoping to keep the pain train rolling in these dogfights and keep winning money. New sticks came in today and they are beautiful

Weekly deal in Lafayette. They throw up cash to play and the winner leaves with some money.

It's a team game they play everyday at bayou bend in Crowley. They play best ball and points (3 for birdie 2 par 1 bogey) and count top three of four each hole for points. They also pay for every birdie. The math gets confusing at times but your team has to do real bad for you to lose more than $10.
Everybody writes their name and hdcp on the board and lowest hdcps are captains dmx pick teams. For me it makes it interesting having a little bit of money on the line and I get to play with different people every time out

Small brag - played Fallen Oak last Friday, met Michael Jordan. We didn't shake hands or exchange phone numbers but as he walked on the driving range to hit next to me he gave me a head nod. It was awesome. Him and his group of eight played behind us. They pretty much had the entire course staff on hand waiting on them. I actually held him up once while I three putted.
Think I may play Audubon this weekend.

There are many ways to have dogfights, but they all start with a club in which you establish a handicap with the club. The one in Crowley throws in a team play which is generally not the way it's done.
Typically, a dog fight is Everyman for himself. The winner is determined by how each man shoots against his own handicap. For example, a scratch golfer would have 36 points to make. 3 for birdie, 2 for par, 1 for boggle, double or worse is a scratch. If he shoots -4, he scored 40 points and is +4 in points. Another guy may only need 12 points but today he scores 17, then he is +5. He wins. It allows golfer of all levels to compete against each other. Handicaps are adjusted each week based in the scores that week, so players who get better need to score more over time.
There are several side bets in these things. Closest to the hole, rabbits, etc.

Those clubs are beauties, malvin. How you like them?

I hit a few trash balls into the field behind my house when I brought them home. The club head is noticeably lighter than my previous irons. I think that is gonna take some getting used to. I'll report back after my range session tomorrow

Played Copper Mill. Shot 38 on the front and hit the pin on 3 for what could have been an eagle but ended up with a par. Shot 45 on the back for an 83.. My alignment is awful

Played copper last Friday
I'm glad it's back in playable shape
Greens looked pretty good but were a tad slow
I had to pitch from the front of the green to the back of the green for my 3rd shot on 1, and knocked it to two feet
Left no divot

Played there yesterday. Was surprisingly in much better shape than I thought it would be. Most greens were in pretty good shape.

Drove it on the green to about 12 feet on 16
Managed a 77 through the turmoil

Bandon trip confirmed today. Staying 6 nights and booked seven tee times so far, plan is to alternate 36 hole and 18 hole days, with a caddie on the bag for the morning rounds. I plan on filling in the spare time getting hammered on the putting course.
So far it will be:
2 rounds at Bandon Dunes
2 rounds Pacific Dunes
2 rounds B. Trails
1 round at Old Macdonald
No carts... it's going to be all walking so I need to get in shape.
Will be there first week of March if anyone wants to have an OTGT.
As far as this week goes I don't think I'll play outside of a short game lesson and practice. I feel like a fricking kid on Christmas and I'm counting down the days.

I shot my best round ever in my life out there Sunday. Shot 35/40. Missed eagle putt on 9 and either 4 or 5 birdie putts on back. Probably will never sniff something like that again.

Trying to get back into golf. Had knee surgery six months ago and my wife has banned me from playing flag football. Understandable since we have a newborn and two older kids.
She's going to wish she hadn't recommended picking up golf again. Been shopping on rockbottomgolf.com. New grips for everything except my putter, new shoes, three dozen Taylormade burners, new gloves, and a bristle brush. Got my eye on a new bag and sand wedge next. Thinking about a new set of irons but will probably hold off for a while.
Anyone use a laser rangefinder and how does it work for you?
Hitting the range this week in prep for a charity scramble at pelican point next Monday.
