Had a friend that did. If you're a new golfer I'd recommend it. If you're a decent golfer that just needs a lesson or two to get back on track than I would not. Golf Tec seemed geared on selling high priced packages of long term lessons. Heard good things, but they want to build your swing from scratch so it can be a longer process. Also, everything is indoor on a simulator.

Again, prob a good thing for a new golfer that's struggling, but if you just need a lesson or two it's prob best to get that from someone at your local course.

Here's my problem with anyone that you go to for lessons; they teach you a swing that's in their head. They don't "fix" what you bring to the table, like Butch Harmon.

Not all swings should look alike; just look at the Champions Tour, Furyk or Dustin Johnson.

True statement. My swings gotten off for longer periods of times twice which led me to getting a couple lessons here and there. Afterwards, I could hardly make contact with the ball. Most every improvement I've gotten was from playing a couple rounds with a buddy and him given me a pointer or two on something I'm doing off (alignment, too steep, etc).

I'm actually on my way to see Sean Foley. Wish me luck, this will be my first time going to him.

Make an appointment with your back surgeon too.

I won a swing evaluation from 104.5 and it actually helped me. Just a few tidbits that helped me drive farther and more consistent. Taught me a couple drills too. The packages are long term and expensive though. Also, i don't fully trust the digital simulation. I think you get better feedback when on the range.

I think this is common, but you may get lucky.

A few years back I used a pro who advertised a specific swing as part of his marketing. It was sort of cliche but he was very well regarded and recommended to me.

Ends up, he did tear apart my swing, but it wasn't to replace the swing type he markets and he left in place several aspects that come natural to me. There were several minor "don't dos" that he left, and for each he pulled footage of tour pros making those minor issues work for them, which I found interesting. Of course with the caveat that if they were bigger issues I'd need tour-like skills to offset them, but essentially a "don't sweat the small stuff" approach.

Anyway, all that to say I think there are pros out there who aren't locked in to a specific swing, although there may be downsides (cost and availability, in my case). I imagine some of it may be impacted too by what you hope to achieve. If your goal is simply to participate in charity tournaments and business outings without looking inept, there is more flexibility to work within your existing swing, I'd think.

That makes sense. Douchebags are typically drawn to each other.

Why the dismissive comment? Is there a problem?

They prob don't, but Golf Tec wants to build your swing from scratch selling long packages of lessons. They don't want to just give a guy a pointer or two and have him go about his way.

I just need some tweeking. I used to play a shot that was straight or had a 3-5 yd draw...now I hook and push fade/slice at times.

I did golf tec and it was helpful but you're right, they try and redo your whole swing. I actually still have 6 lessons left but I stopped going, I use a lot of the stuff I was taught but I tweak it to make it my own.

The guy was trying to teach me to hit a high draw, which is great but unnatural for me as I naturally hit a fade. Once I used his advice for my hands, take away, and impact but stopped worrying about hitting a draw and just played my fade it's helped me a lot, especially with driving accuracy and solid contact with irons.

I'm an 11 handicap btw

ETA: he did fix a huge flaw I had coming over the top with my shoulders which has helped me a ton

Have my evaluation on the 23rd. Never had lessons before and just tried to watch some videos or get some tips from buddies who are better than I am. I'd like to be able to play a round at a nice course without losing 24 balls.

Will update after eval with thoughts.

So as to not waste your time:

No Dallas, but they teach off of a program with analytics and a system so I imagine it's the same wherever you go. They're trying to teach you the "perfect" golf swing.
It was cool seeing all of my statistics and seeing my swing in slow mo helps a lot
