I'm trying to get back in to golf after not playing for 5 years or so. I feel pretty good about my irons, but pretty much any shot off the green within 100 yards, I pull out the same 58 degree wedge that I got from who knows where years ago. And I've got a sand wedge that I only use in the sand (makes sense). So how many wedges do y'all carry, and what ranges do you use them from? Should I be looking for a do all wedge that I get really comfortable with(suggestions please), or series of wedges (suggestions please)?

Driving... I've had a great deal of success getting the slice out of my drive by moving the ball forward in my stance. Middle of front foot seems to work even better than back of front foot. But I feel like I'm getting too much loft on my drive when I use this forward placement (before I was driving from the middle of my stance). Any simple swing mechanics to think about, or should I consider a driver with a smaller angle face? Thanks.

I'd carry 3 wedges: PW, GW, SW

I carry 4: PW 46*, 50*, 54*, 58*

Degree and bounce will depend on your type of swing and the conditions you normally play.

You'll need to practice different ball positions with different swing lengths to get a feel for your distances.

I carry the P and U wedges from my Ping G20 set (45 an 50 degree I believe), as well as Titleist Vokey 56 and 60 degree wedges. Smooth shots with the Pings give yardages of 110 and 90. I don't use the Vokeys for full shots, nothing more than around 50 yards and in.

Restructured title response:

golf, short game, and long game help.

Golf: The more shots you take the closer to the hole you get.
Short game: The more shots you take the closer to the hole you can get.
Long game: The one long shot will not likely pay off. So it's best to take more shots, so you can get closer to the hole.

I carry 4 wedges. PW, 52, 56, and 60. Go to the range, and practice 3 swings, half, 3/4, and full with your wedges. Once you see what you can do with these shots, you should have a shot (depending on what the situation calls for) for every short yardage situation. That was the best short game advice i was ever given.

I've got 4 wedges PW, 2 GWs 48,52, SW 56
I can hit any from 100 in but it depends on the shot I need to hit, the lie, and how I feel that day.
Practice practice practice

So here's what I've got. Stock smooth shot. Adjust for more/less distance. It's just easier to dial in the distance with that swing.

60* 65 yards
56* 85 yards
50* 105 yards
46* 120 yards

I carry 4 wedges:

lob (60 degrees for virtually all shots and chips under 105)

sand (56 degrees for bunkers, the occasional chip, and anything under 120)

gap (50 degrees for 120-135)

pitching (45 degrees for 135-145)

Of these wedges, I use the 60 and 56 the most

I carry:Driver, 3w, hybrid, 4-9 irons, 60, 56, 52, 48 degrees
ranges depend on swing completely. If you're struggling with the higher lofts don't be scared to pull a less lofted club and play a bump and run.
